KARACHI, Sept 6: With the accomplishment of work at Pipri’s new filter plant, pumping of water to all affected localities started on Tuesday at 6pm. Water supply to all the affected localities, including Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, DHA, Mehmoodabad, National Oil Refinery, KESC Thermal Power station, KDA Scheme-I and its adjoining areas, was suspended at 9am on Monday for two days to facilitate interconnection work at the new filter plant.

A KWSB spokesman said though the work was scheduled to be completed by 9pm, the engineers and workers got it completed much before the deadline and hence pumping of water to all affected localities began at 6pm on Tuesday.

The KWSB managing director, Brig Iftikhar Haider has lauded the officials for accomplishing the task much ahead of schedule by working round-the-clock.

SHORTAGE: A large number of houses in Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Block 4-A (Journalists’ Society) are without water for the last five days.

Residents of the affected houses regretted that the KWSB officials have not yet taken measures to restore the supply despite a number of complaints lodged with them.
