KARACHI: A sessions court on Tuesday confirmed the interim pre-arrest bail of Nadir Gabol, son of Pakistan Peoples Party leader Nabil Gabol, in a case of injuring a lawyer by reckless driving.

Police had booked Mr Gabol for hitting and injuring 31-year-old motorcyclist Haroon Khalid in DHA Phase-VIII on April 3.

Last week, the suspect was granted interim bail by the additional district and sessions judge (South) against a surety of Rs20,000 with the direction to cooperate with the police in the investigation.

On Tuesday, Mr Gabol and complainant Haroon Khalid appeared before the court. The suspect’s defence counsel, Liaquat Ali Khan, moved an application contending that the applicant and the complainant had reached a compromise on the matter.

Therefore, he pleaded to the court to confirm the suspect’s interim bail arguing that the complainant had no objection if the bail confirmation plea was allowed.

Mr Khalid also moved an application supported by an affidavit, submitting that he had settled the matter with the suspect out of court, thus he had no objection if the application for bail confirmation was granted.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge confirmed the interim pre-arrest bail of the suspect.

According to the contents of the FIR, the complainant said that he tried to cross a jeep, which had tinted glasses and no registration number plate, driven by Nadir Gabol, on 26th Street on April 3. It further said that the four-wheeler suddenly took a left turn, hitting his motorcycle and sped away.

The complainant claimed that he received injuries on his shoulder and back and his motorcycle was damaged.
