QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani said on Friday that the provincial government was utilising all its resources to make functional all state-run hospitals in the province.

Talking to reporters during his visit to the Government Benazir Bhutto Hospital here, he said that there were some health facilities in the province which were still non-functional despite work on their construction had completed.

CM Alyani said the coalition government was working to improve the health sector in order to ensure provision of quality health facilities for the people and for this purpose it had intensified its progress on non-functional government hospitals.

There were a number of non-functional and incomplete development projects in Balochistan and the provincial government was taking measures on an emergency basis to complete them.

He said the Government Benazir Bhutto Hospital was built seven years ago, but previous governments did not take any step to make it functional. The 50-bed hospital was established by the previous Pakistan Peoples Party government, but it did not provide it all health facilities and equipment. The provincial was now working to make this hospital functional as soon as possible and for the purpose it had approved a grant of Rs100 million.

The chief minister directed Communication and Works secretary Noorul Amin Mengal to ensure renovation of the hospital and the finance secretary to release Rs100m immediately.

Meanwhile, CM Alyani along with Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel visited the district court on Friday and reviewed renovation and construction work at the newly constructed building of the district court.

Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, Justice Kamran Mullahkhel, Justice Abdullah Baloch and some provincial ministers were also present on the occasion.

The chief minister and the chief justice took a round of different rooms in the new building.

The additional chief secretary for P&D briefed the chief minister and the chief justice on the construction and renovation work.

Chief Justice Mandokhel said that the new building would ensure facilities for applicants, honorable judges and the court staff.

CM Alyani lauded the quality material used in the construction and renovation. He said the provincial government would ensure release of funds for courts and judicial complexes’ buildings in Balochistan.
