KARACHI, Sept 2: A lawyer was found dead in his house where he had been living alone, in Mehmoodabad, on Friday. Mirza Qaisar Sohail, 45, was lying in a pool of blood at his home near Mehmoodabad gate when the police broke open the door. Stab wounds were visible on the victim’s body, which suggested that he had been repeatedly stabbed in the abdomen.

The victim used to live alone as his wife was said to be a teacher in a college in Okara, Punjab. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and the family was later informed.

The police were groping in the dark as they could not find the motive of the murder. They could not even find a clue to the killers.

BODY FOUND: The bullet-riddled body of a youth was found in a shantytown of North Nazimabad on Friday.

The body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination, where the victim was identified as Jamroz Khan, 26. Five bullets were pumped into his body, the autopsy report said.

The police registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s father, Jalaluddin. The motive of murder or clue to the killers could not be found.

ACCIDENTS: Five people including a minor died in road accidents at various places in the city on Friday.

A seven-year-old girl was knocked down by a Gul Coach on Abul Hasan Isphani Road in Gulshan-i-Iqbal. The girl died on the spot.

Area people got enraged and beat the driver brutally. They handed him over to the police as soon as they arrived. The people dispersed thereafter.

The driver was identified as Gul Hasan. The police impounded the vehicle.

Two people died and five others received injuries in a head-on collision between two trucks on the National Highway near the Landhi Prison.

Those that died were identified as Meeru, 27, and Mohammad Jawed, 21. Arshad, Bakhtiar and Zaheer were among those injured.

The bodies and injured were shifted to the JPMC. The police impounded both the vehicles.

A passer-by identified as Sajjad was hit by a truck (TKB-885) near Pankha Hotel in Pak Colony. The man died on the spot and his body was shifted to hospital for autopsy.

Area people caught the driver, Sabir, responsible for the accident and handed him over to the police.

In a hit-and-run accident, a watchman, Abdul Ghani, died. He was asleep along a road in Phase VIII, in Darakhshan police limits, when an unknown vehicle crushed him to death. The body was shifted to the JPMC for autopsy.
