KARACHI: The Sindh local government department the other day directed the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) director general to submit an immediate inquiry into an illegal construction reported in a section of the press.

Reports published in various newspapers stated that the SBCA laws were violated by a builder in the area of Sharifabad, Karachi.

LG Secretary Roshan Shaikh instructed the SBCA chief to conduct a probe into the matter and take necessary legal action by stopping the violation and submitting the report to his office.

He said the provincial government was fully alert and vigilant to the issue of illegal constructions in the province, adding that action was being taken across the board to implement the directions of the Supreme Court.

Mr Shaikh strictly warned that if any official was found involved in helping illegal constructions, he would face disciplinary action.

He said the department had already suspended 27 officers found involved in illegal activities and the inquiry against them was under way.
