DERA GHAZI KHAN: Commissioner Naseem Sadiq has launched an appeal to the 12 people who have recovered from coronavirus infection and have been discharged from the quarantine centre of Dera Ghazi Khan to donate plasma for the treatment of other patients cases in the country.

Up to 829 pilgrims returning from Iran were quarantined at the centre established at campus of the Ghazi Khan University.

Commissioner Sadiq told Dawn the 12 coronavirus affected pilgrims belonged to Azad Kashmir, Multan, Faisalabad, Mianwali and Sialkot. He urged them to donate plasma as it could be used for treatment of other positive patients in the country.

He said that the last batch of 212 pilgrims quarantined at the campus would be tested for a final clearance. Since the virus breakout in the country, the centre has housed hundreds of pilgrims and more than 500 pilgrims have also been sent to their areas. He said he hoped all the quarantined pilgrims would soon be cleared and allowed to leave for homes.

The public as well as the commissioner praised the role of health department officials, Rescue 1122, police and municipal corporation for better management of the quarantine centre.
