MUZAFFARABAD: A man and a woman were injured in two different villages in Poonch district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday due to ceasefire violations by Indian troops from across the Line of Control (LoC), police said.

Chaudhry Zulqarnain Sarfraz, senior superintendent of police (SSP) in Poonch, told Dawn that Indian troops resorted to shelling for about two hours in the afternoon, “targeting civilian population in different vulnerable areas of subdivision Hajira without any provocation”.

As a result, Maimoona Bibi, 28, and Zulqarnain Shafique, 24, were injured in Tetrinote and Mandhol villages, respectively, he said. Residents claimed that shelling had also left at three houses and as many vehicles damaged in some villages.
