RAWALPINDI: More rain is expected in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad today (Wednesday).
The rain on Tuesday brought chill and caused problems in many areas due to electricity shutdown.
As soon as the rain started in the garrison city, electricity went off in many areas, especially around Saddar, Sadiqabad, Satellite Town, GT Road and Adiala Road.
The residents woke up to a chilly morning even as clouds were hovering over the twin cities. The rain started in the afternoon and continued with short breaks till filing of this report.
The rain pulled the maximum temperature down to 12 degrees Celsius in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The Meteorological Department recorded one milimetre rain at the new airport, eight mm at Saidpur and Zero Point, six mm at Golra, five mm at Bokra in Islamabad; six mm at Shamsabad and five mm at Chaklala Rawalpindi.
It forecast more rain with winds sweeping northern parts of Pakistan in next 24 hours.
“A low pressure area has developed over northern Pakistan. Islamabad and neighbouring areas can expect more rains during the next 24 hours. The temperature is likely to further decline for a day or two after rains,” said the Met office.There would be gusty winds and a hailstorm in some areas of the Rawalpindi division. The weather condition would leave a bad impact on the wheat crops.
