MUZAFFARABAD: A man and his sister were injured in AJK on Monday in Indian troops’ shelling from across the Line of Control (LoC), an official said.
Hafiz Muhammad Ali, assistant commissioner of subdivision Samahni in Bhimber district, told Dawn by telephone that Indian shelling in Baghsar sector started at about 10am “without any provocation”.
He said a mortar shell landed in a house in Kahanwalian village, leaving Muhammad Ahmed, 23, and his sister Zafeefa, 15, injured.
Both were admitted to a local health facility and were out of danger, he added.
Condemning the shelling, AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider said the Indian army had not given up its cowardly practices even in these difficult times when the entire world was battling the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr Haider also called upon the United Nations and international community to urge India to refrain from committing “provocative and shameful actions” along the LoC.
