SWABI/KOHAT: The locally-made protective body gear was provided to the policemen in Swabi and Kohat districts on Fridayto help them protect themselves from coronavirus.

About 100 protective suits were provided to the Swabi police personnel, sources told Dawn.

They said the police had prepared the body-covering suits on their own.

They said the police had hired four tailors at the police lines in Shahmansoor to sew the suits. The sources said of the total 1,400 police personnel in the district, 1,000 had been deployed at the isolation wards, quarantine centres and the entry points. They said a suit cost Rs2,500 and the total cost was Rs250,000.

Meanwhile, the locally-made protective body gear has been provided to the policemen discharging duties outside the isolation wards and the quarantine centres in Kohat to keep them safe from the Covid-19, district police officer Mansoor Aman told journalists on Friday.

He said the body-covering suits would also be provided to the police personnel at the entry points of the city, checkposts and other sensitive places.
