GWADAR: Two security personnel were martyred and four others injured in an attack in the Mand area of Kech district near the Iranian border on Thursday.

Official sources said that assailants opened fire on the personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) when they were inspecting work on erecting a fence along the Iranian border near the Sohren Koh area.

Two soldiers lost their lives and four others suffered injuries. The injured FC personnel included a senior officer. Assistant commissioner of Tump Rehmatullah said the FC personnel returned fire.

Sources said that the exchange of fire continued for some time and after that the assailants escaped.

Security forces took the bodies and the injured to a nearby health facility, and later shifted the injured to Quetta.

The martyred soldiers were identified as Moham­mad Rizwan and Moham­mad Akbar and the injured as Major Mushtaq, Naib Subedar Zahoor, Moham­mad Zafar and Mohammad Asif.

Later, security forces lau­nched a search operation in the area to trace the atta­ckers and detained some suspects for interrogation.
