KARACHI, Aug 29: Italian Consul General in Karachi Bruno Pasquino has appreciated the peaceful holding of local body election in Sindh. Talking to Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui here Monday, Mr Bruno said that as a result of the best arrangements for peaceful polls, a large number of Italian companies and investors had contacted the consulate with desire to make investment here.

The minister thanked the envoy for the confidence reposed in the Sindh government, and said the government was taking preferential measures for safe investment by foreigners in the province.

He said that Pakistan was the gateway to South Asia where best opportunities existed for safe investment. The government, he added, was very keen to provide them every facility in this respect.

Mr Siddiqui said Pakistan’s image had greatly improved and the conditions here had become very conducive for investment. He expressed the hope that large scale investment would help eradicate the menace of unemployment, and assured the Italian envoy of his full cooperation.—APP
