KARACHI: New book to be taught

KARACHI, Aug 25: The new book on Pakistan Studies released by the Sindh Textbook Board (STB) will be taught to class IX students in the province from 2005-06 on-wards.

The Additional Secretary (Academic and Training), Sindh Education and Literacy Department, Dr Mehboob Ali Shaikh, told Dawn that a meeting of senior officials, including the Sindh Textbook Board chairman, Abdul Aziz Mehranvi, was held on Thursday at the department with Ghulam Ali Pasha, education secretary, in the chair, to decide about the new Pakistan Studies textbook.

It was resolved in the meeting that the new textbook printed by the Sindh Textbook Board (STB) would be taught in the current academic session.

Educational boards have accordingly being directed to conduct examinations from the new book for the SSC examinations 2006, he added.
