RAWALPINDI: Punjab Additional Chief Home Secretary Momin Agha and Inspector General of Police Punjab Shoaib Dastagir visited the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday to review security arrangements for Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.

Mr Agha directed the local administration and police to ensure security, adding that the provincial government has issued standard operating procedures for law enforcement agencies that would be implemented so that people can safely enjoy the matches.

Commissioner retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood gave a detailed briefing during which he said that arrangements were made by the local administration with assistance from law enforcement and the army.

Three control rooms were established to monitor the stadium and nearby areas.

“Walk-through gates, CCTV cameras and Nadra verification counters have been established at entry points,” he said.

“A helipad and 10-bed emergency clinic has been set up on the premises of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi while emergency has been declared in the three government-run hospitals in the garrison city,” he added.

Mr Mehmood said it has been ensured that there will not be any power cuts during the matches. The Bomb Disposal Squad has also been deployed at the stadium. Traffic police have made a comprehensive plan to manage traffic, and all encroachments have been removed from roads towards the stadium.
