LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to launch a probe into the affairs of the Al-Kabir Town for allegedly defrauding the general public.
The NAB will also investigate the role of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) officials for their alleged “negligence and collusion” in this project.
According to officials, NAB Chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal on Monday directed Lahore Director General Shahzad Saleem to investigate the matters of the Al-Kabir Town which allegedly launched the society without having the required land and NoC from the department concerned. It sold 14,000 plots and made billions of rupees.
The chairman observed that the LDA had not fulfilled its responsibility in this regard.
“The LDA did not check the advertisement campaign of the Al-Kabir Town despite knowing that it was involved in a mega fraud,” he said and directed to initiate action against those LDA officials involved in this scam and recover the looted money to compensate the affectees.
Meanwhile, the NAB has asked the affectees of the Wapda City Phase-II, Fasialabad, to submit their claims.
