LAHORE: Proceedings of the 19th session of the Punjab Assembly will resume here on Monday after a two-day break.

The session had been convened on the request of the opposition on Friday and as per business advisory committee decision it was to be prorogued the same day. But Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Mazari, who chaired the proceedings, didn’t do so saying it would continue until the authorities concerned submitted a report on the misbehaviour of the police with Mr Mazari when he had gone to attend a meeting with Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at the latter’s secretariat a couple of weeks ago.

The law department has refused to issue new agenda for the Monday’s sitting on the plea that it had to summon the session anew to introduce government’s business.

CM MEETS ELAHI: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar held a meeting with PA Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi here on Sunday and assured him that the ally PML-Q grievances would be addressed.

Both the leaders exchanged views on promoting mutual cooperation. They also discussed the Punjab Assembly deputy speaker’s matter in which the police had stopped his staff member from entering the CM office the other day.

Mr Elahi said his party, the PML-Q, was with the government to serve the people and provide them relief.
