CHARSADDA: Three children were killed and 11 others, including two women, injured when roof of a house collapsed in Kangra Miangan area here on Tuesday.

According to local residents and police, two daughters of Gul Shad Khan were teaching holy Quran to children at their house, when the incident occurred.

The victims were named Asmatullah, 8, and Besma and Aisha, 4. The injured were identified as sisters Raheela and Haseena, and children Zakia, Laiba, Somia, Safeena, Mansoor, Waleeja, Sanaya, Riffat and Nabeela.

The local residents rushed to the spot, retrieved the bodies and the injured with the help of Rescue 1122 personnel. The injured were taken to the tehsil headquarter hospital, Shabqadar. However, one of the injured was referred to a hospital in Peshawar in precarious condition.

Deputy commissioner Adeel Shah also visited the house and directed the officials to gather data regarding the injured and dead to pay compensation to the affected families. He also ordered provision of tent and other material to the house owner.
