GUJAR KHAN: Three brothers and their friend died in a road accident on G.T. Road near Gujar Khan on Thursday night.

According to sources, Rashid Mahmood, 24, Hassan Mahmood, 23, Azhar Mahmood, 20, sons of Malik Wajid Hussain and their friend Saqib Butt, residents of Gujar Khan city travelling in their car towards Gujar Khan.

When their car reached Ghungrila it rammed into a truck parked on the road.

The residents of the area criticised the National Highway and Motorway Police for failing to place reflecting cones ahead of the truck parked on the G.T. Road.

The motorway police DSP Ali Hasan Baloch told Dawn that the truck was attended by the patrolling party of NH&MP and cones were placed there.

When asked about the allegation that the motorway police presence was very thin during night hours, he said the motorway police was commissioned in 2001 and each beat ranging from 30 to 60 km was allotted to only four patrolling vans, which remained the same after 20 years while vehicular traffic had multiplied manifold.

However, he suggested that every vehicle should have reflecting cones which should be placed when they parked their vehicles on roadside.
