Probe ordered as two children die after having soup in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Two children died and three other members of the family fainted after allegedly consuming soup brought from a bazaar in Ibrahimkhel area of Tangi tehsil here on Wednesday.

Hamza, a brother of the deceased children, reported to the Tangi police that he brought soup from bazaar on Tuesday night, adding all the family members sipped the soup and also took tea afterwards and went to sleep.

However, he said a sister and brother of his were found dead in the morning.

Hamza told the police that his mother, a sister and a brother also started vomiting in the morning, and were shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Tangi. He said samples were taken from their stomachs and sent to laboratory for examination.

Following the incident, deputy commissioner Adil Shah directed the district health officer, MS Tangi hospital, assistant commissioner Tangi and food department officials to properly investigate the incident.

The food department officials also took sample of the soup from the shop and sent them to lab for investigation.
