KOHAT: District police chief Mansoor Aman has approved installation of CCTV cameras at the entrance points of all the three tehsil headquarters for effective vigilance, and at the police stations and checkposts to curb corruption and cops’ misbehaviour with the visitors.

He also ordered a crackdown on criminal gangs at a high-level meeting held here the other day. He stressed the need for taking on board people in pinpointing the criminals.

He directed the officials to take action against those who sold deadly ice drug to youth, loan sharks, extortionists and land grabbers.

Mr Aman stressed that the police force effectively implement the National Action Plan to provide relief to people.

Meanwhile, the district police officer has suspended three police officials and ordered a departmental inquiry against them for involvement in corruption and misuse of authority.

According to a statement, the DPO made it clear that the black sheep in the department would be expelled and made an example for others.

PROTEST: The sub-engineers welfare association of Kohat division held a demonstration on Friday to demand service structure, upgradation and technical allowance.

Holding banners, the sub-engineers gathered at the Kutchery Chowk, where the association’s president Malik Imdad Hussain said they would continue strike till their demands were met.

ILLEGAL CLINICS SEALED: The district administration has sealed three illegal clinics.

Additional assistant commissioner I, Tahir Ali along with inspector healthcare, Lateef Khan, sealed a clinic run by a quack. Similarly, he also sealed two other clinics as the owners did not have government permission and required qualifications.

Meanwhile, additional assistant commissioner III, Murad Khan, fined several shopkeepers for profiteering in the main and Mian Khel bazaars.

CAT-EYES REMOVAL DEMANDED: The public and private motorists have demanded of the executive engineer communication and works department to order removal of cat-eyes (reflectors) from middle of roads as these are damaging the tyres of vehicles.

Talking to journalists they said the cat-eyes on the busy city and KDA roads also caused accidents.

Meanwhile, a customer at a mobile phone shop was deprived of Rs35,000 and a phone by a robber at gunpoint at busy Garhi Banoorian area late Thursday night.
