GUJRAT: Three members of a family, including two brothers who had also been the former councillors, were axed to death and two others critically injured by their two servants in Pathanwali area of Wazirabad’s Sohdra police precincts on Thursday.

Reports said Shafatullah Cheema and Zakaullah Cheema and their nephew Attiqullah were axed to death by their two servants. The suspects also injured two other nephews of the deceased brothers.

However, both the injured Abdullah and Ahtshamullah saved their lives by fleeing from the scene. They were shifted to the Gujranwala DHQ hospital.

The suspects, who are said to be from Okara district, managed their escape on a motorbike, but later police nabbed one of them.

Police said one of the deceased brothers had an altercation with the suspects a day earlier as one of the suspects was said to be a hardened criminal who was wanted to the Okara police in a murder case.

A police team, led by Gujranwala Saddar SP, reached the spot and collected evidence. The bodies were shifted for autopsy.
