LAHORE: Indian Punjabi movies actor and singer Gippy Grewal on Tuesday visited his ancestral home at Chak 47 Mansoora in Faisalabad and interacted with the locals.

Grewal is on a visit to Pakistan on the invitation of prime minister’s adviser Zulfi Bukhari. He reached Lahore through Wagah Border and met Governor Chaudhry Sarwar. Later, he left for Nankana Sahib.

Grewal is famous for his movies such as Carry on Jutta, a blockbuster Punjabi flick, and Lucky di Unlucky story.

In an interview to a channel in Islamabad, Grewal said it was his greatest wish to visit Pakistan and now it had come true.

“I visited Nankana Sahib and my ancestral place at Faisalabad and I am feeling great while visiting Pakistan.” He said he would next time visit Pakistan with his family.

A resident of Chak 47 Mansoora, Shahid Hussain told Dawn that Grewal visited his ancestral village and talked to his grandfather’s contemporary Muhammd Anwar.

Grewal’s grandfather was the numberdar of this village before the Partition, he added.

Mr Hussain said Grewal stayed at the village for half an hour or so.
