THE rent for flats in the vicinity of Karachi University ranges between Rs12,000 and Rs20,000; private hostels charge about Rs10,000 per head per month, while public hostel charges Rs10,000 yearly.
The Karachi University’s boys hostels have been allocated to Rangers instead of students. These hostels are important for students, especially for those who are here from other parts of the country.
It is a fact that there are security issues, but what about students who are from outside the city and have no place to live? The vice-chancellor of the university should provide Rangers some alternative place and give hostels to the students.
