GUJRANWALA: A local PML-N leader was shot dead allegedly by his son on Thursday in his Model Town house.

The suspect was chatting with his friends at home when his father Abid Sandhu came there and scolded him for being in bad company. Waleed, in a fit of rage, shot at and killed his father with a pistol.

The Model Town police arrested Waleed and recovered pistol from him. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy.

CASE: The district administration got registered a case on Thursday against 10 people, including three hotel owners, for trying to burn a government vehicle and threatening the anti-encroachment staff with consequence.

Saddar Assistant Commissioner Saria Haider with the metropolitan corporation staff was supervising an operation against encroachments in Rahwali when Awami Tikka Shop owner Sajjad Ahmad, Al Makkah hotel owner Haji Ibrahim, and the owner of Yadgar Dal Chawal Ustad Billa with their unidentified accomplices chanted slogans against the district administration, attempted to burn the vehicle and snatched the confiscated goods.

The case was registered on the complaint of superintendent of metropolitan corporation Arif Mahmood Butt.

Also, the district administration launched an operation on Thursday to evict cattle from the city and got registered cases against 19 cattle owners.

Deputy Commissioner Suhail Ashraf told reporters the district administration set Jan 15 a deadline to take cattle out out of the city. After the deadline, operation was launched by 10 enforcement committees under the supervision of assistant commissioners.

The additional commissioner revenue was appointed in charge of the operation.

Enforcement committees under ACs Usman Sikandar (city), Saria Haider (Sadar) and Rana Javed (headquarters) raided different parts of the city and got registered eight cases with the Khayali police, two with the Jinnah Road police, nine with People’s Colony, three with Garjakh police, 15 with the Dhullay police, seven each with the Baghbanpura and the Sabzi Mandi police and five with the Satellite Town police.
