KARACHI: St Paul’s High School beat St Patrick’s School by five wickets to win the NBP Inter-school cricket tournament here at the National Bank Sports Complex Cricket Ground on Monday.

Saad Abdul Rehman cracked 77 and took one wicket to clinch the Man-of the-Match award.

St Pat’s School won the toss and elected to bat to score 108-9 in the allotted 20 Overs. Shoaib Hussain top scored with 55 off 59 balls containing eight fours while Emad Ali Khan made 22 off just 19 balls with two fours. Shasahwar Danyal (2-13) was the most successful bowler for St Paul’s. Saad Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Bilal and Bharat Chohan took one wicket each.

In reply, St. Paul High School chased down the target to reach 110 for 5 in 17 Overs, thanks to the Saad Rehman’s 77 off just 55 balls with the help of nine boundaries and four sixes. Shoaib Hussain (2-15) and Muhammad Sufyan Khan (2-30) bowled well for St Pat’s.

NBP group head SEVP Tariq Jamali was the chief guest on the occasion and presented the winner’s trophy to St. Paul’s captain. NBP Sports Head Iqbal Qasim, Javed Ashraf , Iqbal Wahid, Saeed Azad, Anwer Farooqui and Azmatullah Khan were also present on the occasion.

Tariq Jamali lauded the standard of matches played in the tournament and emphasised that countries are built due to the constructive approach of the students and sports plays a key role in developing that approach. He also announced holding of football, hockey tournaments as well in the future and lauded Iqbal Qasim and his team for holding the tournament in a befitting manner.
