MIRAMSHAH/SWABI: At least 15 cabins were torched when a blaze erupted in the Bakakhel camp of the internally displaced persons near Bannu district on Friday night.

Officials said that the fire started due to electricity short-circuit in a cabin which quickly engulfed the adjacent shops. As a result, 15 outlets were reduced to ashes. The affected people demanded compensation for the losses they suffered in the blaze.

Meanwhile, a fire erupted in a textile mills in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate of Swabi on Saturday.

Police said the fire broke out at night, forcing the management to declare emergency.

Following the fire, the management called the Gadoon Estate fire tender which reached there within no time and started extinguishing the flame.

The officials and workers were immediately shifted to safe section of the factory, while the fire brigade also asked the factories sharing wall with the affected mills to adopt precautionary measures.

An official said it was yet to be known as to how the fire got erupted and how much the losses were.

The official said the fire was brought under control within minimum possible time, thus preventing widespread damage.

Meanwhile, a man belonging to Shagai village was shot dead in the main city, police said on Saturday.

The victim was named Shiraz Khan, who told police in the dying statement that on the orders of Ali Sher, Majid Khan and Fayyaz Khan opened fire on him.
