KARACHI, Aug 18: Five persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city Wednesday. Police said that an employee of the Pakistan Post office was heading to cast his vote when a speeding truck knocked him down on Altaf Barailvi Road.

In another accident, Lal Mohammad, 25, died in a hit and run accident at Banaras Chowk. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In Malir city, an unidentified young man was crushed beneath a locomotive. Police suspected that the victim committed suicide. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.

DHA MEN KILLED: Two employees of the DHA died in a road accident on Wednesday.

Police said Ayaz and Fayyaz, employees of the DHA, were working at the green belt at Khayaban-i-Itthad when a speeding car hit the two persons.

The two victims died on the spot. The police have arrested the driver of the car.

In another accident, a young man died in a road accident in North Nazimabad.

Police said that Waseem, 35, was standing at a bus stop at the main road of North Nazimabad when a speeding bus of route (4-J) knocked him down.

He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
