DADU: A prisoner facing trial in two murder cases died of heart failure on Thursday morning a day after he was provided emergency medical treatment for fever and vomiting and admitted to the district jail of Dadu.

Rajib Chandio, 24, a resident of Hasil Chandio village of Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka, had complained of vomiting during the hearing of his cases in a court on Wednesday. He was provided treatment at the jail’s hospital where Dr Sajid Ali Lashari advised the jail authorities to keep him under observation along with other patients. He died of heart failure the next morning.

The prisoner’s relatives did not allow his post-mortem examination and took away the body for burial.

Rajib Chandio was booked in one murder case in 2015 and another one in 2016 at the Sita Road police station and had been in jail custody for the last two years.
