Musharraf case

Published December 28, 2019

IN the past, we could not even apply article 6 to those who violated the constitution. The special court’s decision is testimony to the rule of democracy and supremacy of judiciary in the country. But the judge’s remarks that Musharraf’s corpse be dragged and then hanged in public for three days is against the constitution and the principles of Islam.

Our constitution does not permit any judge to direct authorities into committing unconstitutional acts such as dragging a person’s corpse and then hanging it at D-Chowk for three days.

It is beyond our understanding how a judge can give such an unethical verdict.

WHILE the short order of the special court against the former president Gen Pervez Musharaf surprised us, the detailed verdict was a bombshell.

How can we be so cruel as to keep a corpse hanging for three days? We should not forget that we belong to a country which was formed to live up to the teachings of Islam.

Such brutal orders are totally against the teachings of Islam and the constitution.
