THIS refers to the verdict by a special court on the Pervez Musharraf case. I have no doubt that Musharraf indeed had flaws and violated the constitution, but he did this in 1999, which was validated by the judiciary.

When the judiciary itself had a tiff with Musharraf in 2007, it launched a movement against the president. For me, the judgement against Musharraf is nothing but a vindictive act.

Besides, politicians, bureaucrats and other government servants have looted the national wealth and have their assets worth hundreds of billions of rupees outside the country. Will judiciary ever dare to do something about this?

IT was being expected that the special court’s detailed verdict in the Pervez Musharraf case would gather support of the people and create a soft and powerful image of the judiciary.

But one blunder (para 66) made people think the judgement showed a personal grudge because Justice Waqar Seth did not support his verdict with any article of the constitution.

There has now been criticism of the judge by the people, journalists, lawyers and former judges. Para 66 strengthens the perception that the verdict is biased and based on emotions.
