Karachi Youth XI wins Quaid-e-Azam Day hockey match

KARACHI: Karachi Youth XI defeated Hydera­bad XI 4-0 in an exhibition hockey match at the KHA Hockey Stadium on Wed­nes­day. The match was organized by Karachi Hoc­key Association (KHA) on the eve of Quaid-e-Azam Day,

Karachi Youth XI dominated the match and did not allow Hyderabad XI to settle in the one-sided fixture. First two goals were scored by Karachi’s Arsalan Haider in the 14th and 19th minutes while third and fourth goal was scored by Haris Naseer and Shahbaz Ali in 23rd and 41th minute of the play respectively.

Patron-in-Chief KHA, Vice Admiral (R) Syed Arifullah Hussaini graced the occasion as chief guest at the event. While addressing the media, Arifullah said that KHA aims to promote hockey in city.

Secretary KHA, Syed Haider Hussain said on the occasion that Karachi is a hub of hockey and has a lot of talent which needs to be polished and groomed. Also present on the occasion were hockey Olympians Hanif Khan, Iftikhar Syed, Danish Kaleem, international players Ehtisham Warsi, Abuzar Umar, Naeem Ahmed, Chairman KHA Gulfaraz Ahmed Khan and others.
