LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission has sealed 59 quackery outlets after its enforcement teams had raided 325 treatment centres in different cities, says a press release.

During the last week, the PHC teams conducted raids in seven cities, including Lahore. The maximum 17 outlets were sealed in Multan, Toba Tek Singh 13, Gujranwala 12, Lahore 7 and five each in Kamalia and Wazirabad.

On the other hand, as per the data, businesses were found to have been changed on 56 centres of quacks. In Lahore, Masha’Allah Clinic, Ariyan Clinic, Ali Dental Clinic, Al-Shifa Medical Store, Sheraz Welfare Clinic, Asim Clinic and Makkah Dental Clinic were sealed.

A spokesperson for the PHC said so far the commission had raided over 59,300 treatment centres and sealed 23,377 businesses where quacks were working.

“While carrying out further proceedings on the desealing requests, the PHC hearing committees have imposed a fine of over Rs476 million on the quacks,” he added.
