LAKKI MARWAT: All Khyber Pakhtunkhwa kabaddi tournament concluded with a colourful prize distribution ceremony here on Friday.

Besides the hosts Lakki Marwat, renowned kabaddi clubs from Charsadda, Bannu, Swabi, Mardan and Peshawar participated in the tournament held as part of the deputy commissioner sports gala.

Thousands of game lovers turned up at the Kabir Stadium to watch the final match between Bachkan Ahmadzai (Lakki Marwat) and Bannu clubs.

Bannu Club defeated Bachkan Ahmadzai Club by a narrow margin in the exciting final to lift the trophy. Area police had made tight security arrangements at the match venue. Jubilant spectators and drum beaters would encourage players when they would score points.

Additional assistant commissioner Sajjad Hussain was the chief guest who distributed trophies and cash prizes among the players of winning and runner-up teams.

PROMOTED: Regional police officer, Bannu, Abdul Ghafoor Afridi on Friday promoted 76 police officials on the recommendations of departmental promotion committee.

The committee held a meeting at the regional police office in Bannu, which was chaired by the RPO and attended by DPOs of Lakki Marwat and Bannu besides other members.

An official said that the committee promoted 22 ASIs to the rank of sub-inspector while 10 officiating ASIs were confirmed as regular assistant sub-inspectors. Similarly, the committee also promoted 44 head constables to the rank of officiating ASIs, he added.

HEROIN SEIZED: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a drug trafficker and seized over one kilogramme of heroin from him in Tajazai area.

A police official said that a party of Ghaznikhel police station raided a place in Tajazai and arrested one Latifullah.

He stated that the police recovered 1.25 kilogramme heroin from him. A case has been registered against the suspect.
