Poet passes away

KARAK: Eminent poet and writer Prof Zafar Tenha Khattak passed away after protracted illness on Friday. He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Isak Chountra.

His funeral prayers were attended by people from different walks of life, including educationists, poets, lawyers and doctors.

Zafar Khattak authored several books and also translated ‘Stari Dalilona’, a book of Pashto poetry of late Qamar Zaman Khattak, into English on the title ‘Rambling’.

Meanwhile, the local literary organisation ‘Sasalay’ paid glowing tributes to late Zafar Tenha for his contribution to Pashto literature, and termed his death an irreparable loss to the Pashto literature and literary societies of the district.

Literary society president Ayatullah Khattak said the organisation would hold a condolence reference soon.
