ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza on Thursday inaugurated the new outpatient department (OPD) block of Federal General Hospital.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Mirza said that major reforms were being implemented in the health sector and health facilities were being upgraded to provide better facilities to patients.

“In August this year I had visited the hospital and was shocked to see that there was no place to even stand there. There was no ventilation and even air conditioners were not working,” he said.

“The new building has 19 rooms where gynae, pediatrics, dermatology, ophthalmology, surgery, orthopedic and other services are being provided. Patients will be provided with quality facilities at the new OPD,” he said.

He added that Sehat Insaf Cards have already been provided to 5 million families across Pakistan and by the end of next year the facility will be extended to 10 million families.

Islamabad Model Health City has been launched, Mr Mirza added.
