LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq on Thursday expressed concern over the prevailing conflict among the national institutions, saying the situation has further put in danger the already fragile democracy in the country.

Speaking to journalists after a ceremony at Mansoora, he also criticised the government for committing diplomatic blunders on almost daily basis and putting the Kashmir cause at the back burner.

“The Turkish president and Malaysian prime minister are expressing regret over the attitude of Pakistan. The prime minister made both the leaders angry,” he said.

“The people of Pakistan have great love for the Pakistan Army and don’t want to hear a word against the forces,” he said and added that Gen Pervez Musharraf was retired now and himself responsible for the acts he committed as a military ruler. He demanded action against those who allowed the former ruler to go abroad with protocol.

The JI chief said the government seemed least worried about the problems of the common man. The rulers, he added, were also paying no heed to the held-Kashmir situation where Modi government was committing the worst crimes against humanity.

He said the JI was making persistent efforts to bring the rulers out of slumber on the Kashmir issue and a historic march was being organised in Islamabad on Dec 22. He said the OIC forum was still useful and provided a platform to the Muslim countries despite all its weaknesses to strongly contest the case of the Islamic world. He demanded that the government host a session of the OIC on Kashmir and announce a roadmap for the freedom of the besieged people.

The ceremony was held in the honour of former district nazim Mian Jalil Ahmad Sharqpuri on declaring him ambassador of peace by the Universal Peace Federation, UK, and was attended by JI Secretary General Ameerul Azim and others including Mian Maqsood, Maulana Abdul Malik and Qaisar Sharif.
