RAWALPINDI: Three people were killed in an accident on the G.T. Road near Rawat on Tuesday, police said.

The accident happened when a tyre of a dumper burst and it rolled over a car coming from Gujar Khan to Rawalpindi.

As a result, all three people including the driver of the car died on the spot.

The victims were identified as Khalil Ahmed, 50, Mohammad Munir, 58, and Syed Dabeer Hussain, 58.

An ambulance and police shifted the bodies to the hospital for medico-legal.

Police said the truck driver escaped and the dumper was taken into custody.

Separately, a woman was robbed of gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs600,000 by two women impersonating polio workers in Jhangi Mohalla (Waris Khan Police area) on the first day of the polio vaccination campaign on Monday.

Nilofar Chaudhry, a resident of Jhangi Mohalla, in a complaint to the police, said that someone rang the door bell of her house on Monday morning.

When she opened the door, she found two women standing outside.

She allowed both of them to enter her house after they said they were polio team members.

Soon after, the two women pulled out their pistols and looted cash and valuables.
