Digital Pakistan

Published December 13, 2019

DIGITAL Pakistan is a laudable campaign launched by the government, thanks to the initiative by Tania Aidrus – a former senior Google executive, who left the American technology company to make Pakistan a digital hub.

This is just a silver lining and a quantum leap. The world is moving towards technology and innovation and that is why Pakistan should be at the forefront at global level.

This move will offer people multiple online services with efficiency through digital financing. We will now have e-governance covering transport, commerce, payments and e-billing, making Pakistan a paperless society.

Innovation and entrepreneurship will facilitate investors and startups and it will make the country corruption-free.

However, this positive initiative needs a holistic approach, including a plan for cyber-security.

THE speech by Tania Aidrus at the inaugural ceremony of digital Pakistan was heartening. Her passion for Pakistan’s progress is commendable.

It is unfortunate that a large segment of Pakistani diaspora is working for other countries. It is time for all those sons and daughters of Pakistan to return to Pakistan and serve their nation.

They will earn an eternal name for themselves by doing so.
