RAWALPINDI: The second party in a shootout that left four people dead in Dhoke Kala Khan on Friday has filed an application seeking the registration of an FIR in the death of one of the four people killed.
Three members of a family from one group were killed in the exchange of fire, and an FIR in their deaths has already been registered. Seven others were also injured in the shooting.
A video aired on television showed an intense shootout between the groups that lasted longer than half an hour on Friday even though a police van could be seen parked nearby.
The provincial government has not taken action in this incident, other than the relevant SHO being removed by the city police officer (CPO).
Request sent to authorities to place names of suspects nominated in FIR on ECL
The family of the fourth person killed, who belonged to the Chaudhry Yasir group, has now filed a complaint against the Lambardar group but their FIR is still pending.
CPO Mohammad Faisal Rana told Dawn that the police had received the application from the group, but he did not reveal whether the counter allegation will be registered.
“The complainant in the FIR registered by the family of the killed had accused their rival group of killing the fourth individual themselves,” Mr Rana said.
“Two people have been arrested and weapons were recovered.
“A request has been sent to the concerned authorities to place the names of the suspects nominated in the FIR on the exit control list (ECL),” he added.
Mr Rana said in addition to placing them on the ECL, airports had also been informed to stop the suspects from leaving the country.
An FIR has already been registered on the complaint of Zahid Mehmood, whose son Hamza was one of those killed in the shootout.
The complainant said in the FIR that he was at home with his family at 10.40pm on Thursday when he heard gunshots.
He said he left his house at the sound and saw one of the suspects carrying a Kalashnikov and others were firing in the street.
He saidthat he saw the suspect firing at his own domestic employee, Hassan Ishtiaq, injuring him.
He claimed the suspect escaped while firing gunshots.
The family of the three people killed held a protest on Friday, placing their coffins on the road near Faizabad.
