KARACHI: The Sindh Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) meeting approved 16 new schemes worth Rs3.2 billion for the province on Thursday.

The PDWP meeting, presided over by Chairperson Planning and Development Board Sindh Naheed Shah Durrani, approved 11 road sector schemes for various areas in Karachi including Korangi, Shah Faisal Town, West Kemari, Central and SITE. Three road sector projects were okayed for Badin, Mirpurkhas and Matli districts while an irrigation scheme for Thatta was also approved.

Under these development schemes, widening and reconditioning of Badin-Sujawal road in Badin and asphalt work on Mirpurkhas Bypass to Jhillori will be carried out.

In Korangi district, construction of a road from Vita Chowrangi will be done. Reconstruction and rehabilitation of strom water drain and internal roads near Baloch Colony Bridge, Mehmoodabad in District East has also been approved.

The meeting emphasised that strenuous efforts are required to execute the schemes efficiently and in a timely manner.
