QUETTA: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Wednesday issued a red alert as heavy rainfall is expected in Balochistan from Thursday (today).

Home Minister Mir Zia Ahmed Langove has asked the PDMA’s director general and its officers and staff to be ready for any eventuality.

In a message issued from his office, the minister said all resources must be utilised to provide relief to the masses in case of an emergency. Heavy machinery must be made available in case of heavy rain and floods in streams, he said.

Mr Langove ordered the PDMA staff to remain at the places of their duties. “Foodstuff must also be stored to meet an emergency situation,” he said.
