KARACHI: Diplomats meet MQM leaders

KARACHI, Aug 10: Mr Hamish Daniel and Mr Simon Butt, British Deputy High Commissioners in Karachi and Islamabad, respectively, met Dr Farooq Sattar, deputy convenor of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, and other members of the party’s coordination committee at the residence of Ms Nasreen Jaleel here on Tuesday.

They exchanged views with the MQM leadership on the upcoming local body elections and other matters of common interest.

According to an MQM press release, the envoys expressed satisfaction over the recent women convention in Nishtar Park and other rallies organized by the party.

The release said that the diplomats also appeared satisfied over the efforts aimed at dispelling an impression being created by a particular party, about possibility of bloodshed in Karachi.

Dr Farooq Sattar thanked the British diplomats and assured them that the MQM would do its best to ensure peaceful holding of the local body elections.
