RAWALPINDI: City Police Officer (CPO) Faisal Rana on Wednesday expressed the hope that the Safe City project for Rawalpindi city would complete within the stipulated time period.

He said that modern technology and tools were helping law enforcement agencies for reducing crime rate and improving investigation.

“Police will work closely with chamber and trade associations on the installation and monitoring of CCTV cameras in the markets. The chamber of commerce’s suggestions for ending crime in the city are welcome,” he said.

He was talking to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) delegation led by President Saboor Malik on Wednesday.

The CPO said that patrolling had been increased to control street crimes and added that he would visit the chamber.

The RCCI President Saboor Malik appreciated the police efforts in tracing theft cases reported last week at Ganjhmandi and City Saddar Road area and expressed the hope that recovery will be made as well.

He said safe city project was need of the hour and RCCI would fully coordinate and support to make this project a success.

A better coordination on the lines of community police will help improve image of police department and controlling crime rate in the city, said the RCCI president.

He suggested that private security companies and their guards must be scrutinized and asked CPO to facilitate them in police academy for basic training and situation handling.

Registration of FIR should be made hassle free and added that an help desk/facilitation desk at Chamber can be good source of assistance and follow ups.

Senior Vice President Nosherwan Khalil, Vice President Hamza Saroosh, representatives from the trade associations and executive members were also present on the occasion.
