KARACHI: Usman Club displayed brilliant game to beat Karachi’s under-18 side 42-38 in the thrilling opening match of the Mehmood Molvi Cup Basketball tournament here at the Abdul Nasir courts on Monday night.

For the winners, Hamza Perwani (17 points), Humayoun Aslam (13 points) and Hasan Iqbal (11 points) were the main scorers. For the runner-ups, Hasan Iqbal Jr (12 points), Shariq Suleman (11 points) and Saad Salahuddin (10 points) played well.

Earlier, PTI MPA Khurram Sher Zaman inaugurated the tournament which has been jointly organised by KBBA and PSWA.

Speaking on the occasion, he said sports are essential for mental and physical growth of people and PTI govt lays special emphasis on promoting sports at grass roots level. He said that he will talk to Governor Imran Ismail about Governor Divisonal basketball and Governor Sindh Sports Festival.
