KARACHI, Aug 9: British Deputy High Commissioners Hamish Daniel and Simon Butt on Tuesday visited the Jamia Islamia Clifton Madressah. They exchanged views with the Vice-Chairman of the Jamia, Mufti Abu Huraira Mohiuddin, and other members about religious education, modern sciences including teaching of English, Computer Sciences, General Mathematics and General Sciences.

The visit took place on the invitation of the madressah and was part of a regular dialogue, which the British diplomats had with a wide spectrum of people in the community. Simon Butt and Hamish Daniel are British Deputy High Commissioners based in Islamabad and Karachi respectively.

Mr Daniel said, “In our discussions with Jamia Islamia Clifton, Simon and I agreed it was important to intensify efforts and co-operation in order to tackle the scourge of terrorism, which continues to plague the world.

“We discussed great strides that the UK has taken to enable its diverse community to live together peacefully and harmoniously. We also discussed the need to take practical steps to ensure that activity of those who preach violence and extremism is curtailed.”
