CHARSADDA/PESHAWAR: Awami National Party central president Asfandyar Wali Khan has said the government should also open corridors on the western border on the pattern of the Kartarpur corridor.

Talking to mediapersons at Wali Bagh, Charsadda on Monday, he said the government had opened the Kartarpur corridor on the eastern border, but was building fence along the Afghan border.

He asked the government to remove fencing along the Afghan border and open more corridors on the pattern of Kartarpur. He said opening of Kartarpur corridor was a positive step.

Meanwhile, talking to a delegation of Akakhel Ittehad Pakistan in Peshawar, Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao asked the government to take serious steps to normalise ties with Afghanistan, according to a statement.

The QWP leader said peace in Pakistan was linked to stability in Afghanistan and called for restoration of the peace process. However, he clarified that the negotiations should be all-inclusive in order to seek the input from all the stakeholders to restore viable peace to the war-torn country.

“Pakistan will face the consequences of the spillover of violence from Afghanistan if efforts are not made to end the hostilities,” he warned.
