KARACHI: The Karachi Race Club (KRC) joins the nation to commemorate the birth anniversary of great poet of the East, Allama Mohammad Iqbal when it stages the Iqbal Day Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

Besides the cup, the KRC has dedicated the remaining three races of the card to the poet as the Iqbal Day Plates.

The Iqbal Day Cup, which is the main attraction of the card, has a field of five horses It has been classified under top scale order I, II and III and will go over four-and-a-half furlongs. It will also serve as days feature event.

Seven-year-old bay horse Nayyab will make his second successive appearance in the cup race. It is pertinent to mention that Nayyab completed the board among quartet when he featured in the Governor Sindh Cup after a layoff last weekend.

The next race which is the supporting event, scale order IV, V and VI has nine starters and will also be contested over four-and-a-half furlongs.

A good number of 11 horses will face the starter in the opening race while five horses are in line in the second. Both the races have been designed over four furlongs.

The first race starts at 3:00pm.

Place: Rukhsar and Winx.

THE IQBAL DAY PLATE SCALE ORDER VI & VII — 4 F:

Sonia Again 9-0, Fast Lady 8-3, Paris 8-1, No Try (Diamond Doll) 7-13, Dance and Dance 7-9.

Win: Fast Lady.

Place: Sonia Again.

THE IQBAL DAY CUP SCALE ORDER 1, II & III — 4½ F:

Win: Black Gold.

Place: Sweet Mover.

THE IQBAL DAY PLATE SCALE ORDER IV, V & VI — 4½ F:

Turbo Jet 9-2, Lovely Baby 9-0, Piyara Faisal 8-12, Current Option 8-10, Sultan 8-10, Shining Arrow 8-10, Janbaaz (Native Prince) 8-9, Cracks Man 7-10, Sassy Gold 7-10.

Win: Sultan.

Place: Janbaaz and Cracks Man.
