ISLAMABAD: A man climbed a cellular company’s tower located adjacent to the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) sit-in venue and sought a meeting with the prime minister and a job too, police said.

Some participants of the sit-in spotted the man at the tower, located in G-9/4 when he started addressing the officials on a microphone seeking his meeting with the premier.

He also announced that he was jobless and asked them to arrange a job for him, they said.

Additional deputy commissioner and an assistant commissioner also reached the spot along with senior police officers of the area, the police said.

The man also made some calls from the tower, they said, adding that after the unsuccessful negotiation assistance was sought form the rescue department which reached the spot and installed a jumping pad around the tower.

The officials remained engaged in negotiation with the man till sunset but the climber stuck to his demands of meeting with the premier and job, the police said.

From a height of seven to10 feet the man slipped and fell on the jumping pad, they said, adding that fortunately he remained unhurt, but shifted to hospital.

He was kept in the hospital under the doctors observation.

The man was identified as Kashif Mirza, a native of Sialkot, the officials said, adding that the police were tracing his family.
