QUETTA: Federal Minister for Petroleum Omar Ayub Khan on Wednesday met Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani to discuss Centre-Balochistan partnership in an oil refinery and exploration of oil and gas in the province.
The chief minister referring to provincial rights under the 18th Amendment of the Constitution told the federal minister that the provincial government should be taken into confidence while issuing licence to companies seeking to explore oil and gas reservoirs in Balochistan.
He said any decision by taking the people of Balochistan on board, regarding its development in general and provincial resources in particular, would help boost public confidence in the federal government.
Mr Khan, while agreeing with the CM on the issue, pledged to address mistakes committed by the previous regime. He said the federal government would ensure provincial rights while signing oil and gas projects with national or international companies. Balochistan Minister for Finance Zahoor Buledi, Chief Secretary Fazil Asghar and the federal secretary for petroleum were also present.
