ISLAMABAD: A 10-year-old boy was found murdered on the roof of a private hostel on Tuesday, police said.

The victim was identified as Ahmed, 10, a seminary student, they said, adding he was residing in the hostel in H-13 along with other students of the seminary.

Ahmed shared a room with a ninth grade student, a 16-year-old boy, they said.

When he did not return from the seminary along with his roommate, the hostel staff launched a search for him and found his body on the rooftop of the hostel.

They informed the police, who took the body in their custody and shifted it to a hospital for autopsy, they added.

Marks of injuries were found on his head and face, they said, adding that a rock having a blood stain was also found near his body.

It was suspected that the killer hit the victim’s head and face with the stone, which claimed his life, the police said, adding that his hands were also found tied, besides a noose around his neck.

The police examined footage of CCTVs installed at the hostel, which revealed that the victim along with another student was going upstairs, they stated Shams Colony SHO Inspector Asjad Altaf said the boy was an orphan and a native of Rawalpindi and residing in the private hostel, which provides accommodation to the students of a school located in H-13, he added.

Replying to a question, the SHO said the autopsy would determine the cause of his death. He was murdered sometime last night, he added.
